Guidelines for Oral Presenters

Publication
Your abstract will be published in an online searchable program on the conference website. Furthermore all abstracts are published in an EHP Environmental Health Perspectives online file, which will have a fully citable DOI number.

Preparing your presentation
Please start preparing your presentation for the conference. The presentation time will be 12 minutes plus an additional time 3 minutes for discussion.

Presentation formats
The following presentation formats are permitted:

  • MS Powerpoint (installed version: MS Powerpoint 2010)
  • Prezi
  • PDF Presentations

The presentation platform will be Microsoft Windows 7.

Technical prerequisites
Each session room is equipped with monitor, beamer, microphone & speakers. There will be staff available in each session room.

Speaker Ready Room
The Speaker Ready Room will be at your service in room Nairobi of the Congress Center Basel for the delivery and possible updates of your presentations. Presentations will be collected and uploaded directly from here into the various session rooms.

Please bring your presentation on a USB stick and ensure, that the presentation is uploaded at the Speaker Ready Room well in advance and not later than the day before your oral session/ symposium (for Tuesday sessions until 10:00 at the latest). Please note, that uploading your presentation in the session room itself is not possible.

If you intent to use multimedia or similar content in your presentation, make sure with the Speaker Ready Room staff well in advance, that your presentation will be running smoothly.

Online Registration>
Please ensure, that at least the presenting author is registered for the conference and the presenting author information we received is correct (see above). Talks without a registered presenting author may be cancelled.

Guidelines for Poster Presenters

Poster format
The poster should not exceed the following dimensions: 90 cm width x 130 cm height (~world format). The poster may only be put up in portrait format – lanscape formats will not fit on the poster space assigned to your poster.

Publication
Your abstract will be published in an online searchable program on the conference website. Furthermore all abstracts are published in an EHP Environmental Health Perspectives online file, which will have a fully citable DOI number.

Setting up your poster on site
The poster exhibition will take place in hall 4.1.of the Congress Center Basel - there will be staff available to assist you with the installation of your poster. Around 450 posters will be on display during your poster viewing session. Please ensure, that your poster is installed before 10h00. For the poster session on Tuesday, posters may already be installed on Monday, Aug 19th from 9h30 to 17h00. The posters may be uninstalled starting at 15:30 (after the coffee break). For the poster viewing sessions on Tuesday (Aug 20) and Wednesday (Aug 21) we ask you to make sure, that your poster is uninstalled at the end of the conference day to free the poster space for the following poster viewing session the next day.

Presenting your poster (Poster Viewing)
The presenters of the posters should be available for discussion during the poster viewing sessions, which will take place from 13h00-14h00 on the day of your poster viewing session.

Poster Award Competition
If you are a student poster presenter, you have the possiblity to register for the poster award competition for one of the three societies organizing this conference (ISIAQ/ ISES/ISEE). Deadline for submission is 31 July 2013. Click here for more information.

Online Registration

Poster Award Competition for ISIAQ, ISES and ISEE

If you are a student poster presenter, you have the possiblity to register for the poster award competition for one of the three societies organizing this conference.
To be eligible the applicant must be

  • a doctoral or masters student at the time of abstract submission
  • presenting author of the poster (entries that were selected for an oral platform are NOT eligible to participate in the poster competition)
  • first author of the poster

Furthermore the following rules apply:

  • Only one poster entry is permitted per student
  • Only one society can be selected to judge the poster
  • The student does not need to be a member of the society they choose to compete in
  • An additional student out of the top-ranking candidates among all three awards will receive a one year free subscription to the Int J Public Health, sponsored by its publisher Springer

The Student Poster Competition will take place during the three regular scheduled poster sessions and each competing poster will be identified with a colored flag. There will be a dedicated poster award ceremony on Friday, 23 August 2013. Award winners are asked to be present.

Deadline for submission is 31 July 2013.
